Turnkey PCB Assembly

One order for fabrication, components, assembly and testing. Network PCB manages the whole build so your team can stay focused on design, validation and launch.

What Turnkey PCB Assembly Includes

In a turnkey order, Network PCB is responsible for each step between your design files and a finished, tested circuit board assembly. You don't coordinate a board shop, a parts distributor and an assembler separately, and you get one quote, one schedule and one team to talk to.

Network PCB has been based in San Jose, California, since 1994 and supports turnkey customers across the United States.

Bare-board fabrication

Rigid, multilayer, HDI, flex and rigid-flex boards fabricated to your stack-up, material and finish.

Component procurement

Parts bought against your BOM's manufacturer part numbers, with availability and lifecycle checks before purchase.

Assembly

SMT, through-hole, mixed-technology and BGA assembly with lead-free or tin-lead processes.

Inspection & testing

AOI, X-ray, in-circuit and functional testing, set to your requirements.

Engineering review

DFM and BOM review before purchase, so issues are found before money is spent.

Documentation

Inspection, test and first-article records as your program requires.

Turnkey PCB Assembly Workflow

Fabrication and component purchasing run in parallel. This is one of the main schedule advantages of turnkey over managing each supplier yourself.

  1. Submit design data and BOM

Send fabrication data, a complete BOM, centroid file, assembly drawing, quantity and target date.

  2. BOM and DFM review

We check the BOM for availability, lifecycle status and lead times. The layout is reviewed for fabrication and assembly. Questions and suggested alternates come back to you.

  3. Quote and approval

You receive one quote covering boards, components, assembly and testing, with the lead time for that build.

  4. Fabrication and procurement in parallel

Bare boards are fabricated while components are purchased, received and checked against the BOM.

  5. Assembly

Solder paste, SMT placement, reflow and through-hole soldering are carried out according to your drawings.

  6. Inspection and test

AOI, X-ray and electrical or functional testing are performed according to the agreed plan.

  7. Delivery

Finished assemblies are packed and shipped with the inspection and test records the project calls for.

Component Procurement

Component availability usually sets the turnkey schedule. Here is how sourcing is handled and how you can help keep it on track.

Buying to your BOM

Parts are purchased to the manufacturer part numbers you specify, preferring authorized distribution. Parts are not substituted without your approval.

Availability and lifecycle checks

Long-lead, constrained and end-of-life parts are flagged at quote, so you can approve alternates or plan a last-time buy.

Approved alternates

Listing approved alternates on your BOM gives more sourcing options and often shortens lead time.

Handling and storage

Moisture-sensitive devices are handled under controlled conditions before assembly to protect solder-joint reliability.

Turnkey, Partial or Consigned: Which Fits?

Turnkey is not the only option. If you already hold inventory or controlled parts, a consignment model may suit you better.

PCB assembly sourcing models compared
AreaWhat is supported
Full turnkeyNetwork PCB supplies boards and all components. One PO and one point of contact.
Partial consignmentYou supply selected parts, such as custom, controlled or stocked items. We source the rest.
Full consignmentYou supply all components. We receive, kit, assemble and inspect.

Customer Requirements and Quotation Process

A complete turnkey package can be priced in one pass. Missing data adds rounds of questions. Please include:

  • Fabrication data: Gerber RS-274X, ODB++ or IPC-2581, with drill file
  • Fabrication notes: material, thickness, copper, finish, solder mask, impedance
  • BOM with manufacturer, manufacturer part number, quantity per board and reference designators
  • Approved alternates, and any parts you will supply
  • Centroid / pick-and-place file
  • Assembly drawing with polarity and special instructions
  • Build quantity (and expected annual volume, if known)
  • Lead-free or tin-lead requirement
  • Inspection, test and documentation requirements
  • Any location, compliance or export-control requirements

Submit the package through the request-for-quote form. Include BOM and pick-and-place files inside a ZIP or RAR archive. Questions? Reach the team through the contact page.

Turnkey PCB Assembly FAQs

What is turnkey PCB assembly?

Turnkey PCB assembly means one supplier handles the whole build: fabricating the bare boards, buying the components on your BOM, assembling and inspecting the boards, and shipping finished assemblies. You send design data and one purchase order instead of managing several vendors.

How is turnkey different from consigned assembly?

With full turnkey, Network PCB sources the boards and all components. With consigned assembly, you supply the components and we assemble them. Partial consignment combines the two: you supply some parts and we source the rest.

Where do you source components?

Components are bought against the manufacturer part numbers on your BOM. Wherever possible we buy through authorized distribution channels. If a part is constrained or obsolete, we contact you before substituting anything.

Will you substitute parts without asking?

No. Alternates are only used if they are listed on your BOM or you approve them. Mark parts with an approved alternate, or as no-substitute, on the BOM.

What testing is included with turnkey assembly?

Inspection and testing are set for each project and can include AOI, X-ray inspection for BGAs, in-circuit testing and functional testing. First article inspection reports are available on request.

Is turnkey assembly available for prototypes?

Yes. There is no fixed minimum order quantity, so turnkey prototypes and pilot builds can be quoted. A lot charge may apply to very small orders.

Is turnkey PCB assembly performed in the USA?

Network PCB is headquartered in San Jose, California, and supports turnkey customers across the United States. If your program requires fabrication or assembly at a US location, include that in your RFQ so it can be confirmed before you order.

What determines the lead time for a turnkey order?

Turnkey lead time combines bare-board fabrication time, the time needed to get the slowest component on the BOM, and the assembly and test schedule. Component availability is often the deciding factor, so approved alternates can shorten it.

Request a Turnkey PCB Assembly Quote

Send your design data and BOM. We will review sourcing and manufacturability and return one quote for the complete build.
